Marrakesh: and a tale of Melanie Royals and the Peacock Painters, Part 4

Lovelies,

I'm back from Cairo just in time for a painting retreat at Peacock Pavilions.  Melanie Royals is working her unbelievable stencil magic with a talented group of Peacock Painters.  Oh!  We're painting the floor of a new yoga and pilates platform in the Peacock Pavilions olive grove in Marrakesh. (Yoga and pilates instructors take note!)

The inspiration I sent Melanie for this stencil project was Nigerian textile design.  Here's a sneak peek of the goings on:

You can't tell in the pictures but the floor is actually a beautiful indigo color that architect husband Chris hand mixed himself!

Look at this darling peacock feather that Melanie designed!  (Could I love it anymore?  I don't think so.)

Cairo: and a weekend tale of playing more

Happy weekend, friends!  I recommend lots of play.  I'm talking ping pong, pool, badminton, boules, bowling or arcade games.  The kind of stuff that helps you remember that life should be fun.  Otherwise, what's the point?

Cairo: and a tale of skimming the surface

Do you ever wonder about the people you never really meet?
Just a nod in the elevator
a smile in the street
a thank you on the phone.

Just a chance hi and goodbye.
And that's all, really.  Yes, that's all, forever.

All the mised encounters
All the missed connections.
All the missed somethings with meaning.

The memories you never had and the jokes you never shared, because you never had a chance to, well, begin.

And it's sad, really.  It's sad to think
that we might always be strangers, as if that was, as if that could ever be...... enough.

Cairo: and a tale of gold colored glasses

I’m trying not to dwell on

       the unnecessary hurts.

       the unexplained delays

       the unreasonable demands

No, instead, I’m choosing to believe that

all that glitters is, well, gold.

Because then maybe it really will be.

Thinking positive thoughts in Cairo and hoping it will all work out.
