Marrakech: and a tale of a beautiful Moroccan courtyard house (riad) for sale

I met her years ago.  I'm not even sure how.  But I remember thinking light poured from her.  She collected heart stones and was connected to the universe.

She was (and is) Swedish -- as many beautiful things are.

She had a little and perfect Moroccan vacation home in Marrakech.  I wrote about it here.  Oh. It's now for sale.  Perhaps it should be yours?

It has a courtyard at its center...

and glamorous light fixtures & nooks in the living & dining room.

lead up to  just two bedrooms -- each as pure as a Christmas tale (and overlooking the courtyard below).

Further up still....a terrace!

1100 square feet, less than 200,000 dollars.  In the heart of the Marrakech medina.  Perfectly renovated and furnished.  Can we be neighbors?

PS Did you know that this darling house is in my book, Marrakesh by Design?  Yes, I love it that much.  A detail shot is even on the book cover!

Marrakech: and a tale of identity (and books)

I was looking at my book shelves and thinking how much theytold of me.  How they unraveled things.  How they deconstructed my past.

London: a tale of Modenus & generosity

Dear friends,

I'm off to London Wednesday to attend Blogtour thanks to Modenus and the amazing Blogtour sponsors.  Anxious to get to know the generous people willing to pluck me out of my Moroccan olive grove and send me to London sight unseen, I took a peek into their portfolios and picked out some of my favorite goodies.

Blanco
Blanco America:   Blanco Culina Semi Professional.  Seriously, this would make washing dishes at Peacock Pavilions so much easier.

Victoria_Albert_Barcelona_EU4
Victoria + Albert:  Barcelona bath.  Holy smokes, talk about a chic bath.

SS5A2801 Silk Weave Swatch

Amtico International: Silk Weave. Flooring that looks like textured fabric?  Yes, please.

V161-T_Xenon

Samuel HeathXenon 3/4" thermostatic shower valve trim.  This would be perfect for showers at Peacock Pavilions, paired with brightly patterned Moroccan tile.

Lapicida: Rock crystal basin.  Oh.....Sublime.

And So To Bed.  Claudette Chest of Drawers by Nina Campbell. Perfectly elegant (and yet glamorous). I would love this in my bedroom at Peacock Pavilions

Mr Steam
Steam Therapy:  Towel warmer.  I've always wanted to have this kind of indulgence in my bathroom. Heaven!.

KBDu Verre Hardware: Kuba:  Inspired by African Kuba cloth.....?  How could I possibly say no.

Many, many thanks to these generous sponsors of Blogtour London!  And, of course, a clapping of hands for Modenus.

London: a tale of Heart & Home & so much more

Dear friends,

Next week at this time I will be in London!  I'm going on BlogTour to check out Decorex and many other lovely design-y events.  This is all thanks to the amazing Modenus and her group of very generous sponsors. (More on that later.)

I can't tell you how excited I am about all of this.  You might find me more commonly heading  off to Afghanistan, Mali, Egypt or Yemen for work.  But London.....?  Not so often.

One of the events I am most chuffed about takes place in London before Blogtour even begins and is being held by the *adorable* team behind Heart Home Magazine.  The Magazine is turning 1 (such an accomplishment) and it's time to celebrate!  I'll be speaking and would love to see you there.  I always get ridiculously happy to connect with people in real life, and so if you could make it, I'd be thrilled.

Pls do RSVP.  The details are below.
